About

This blog is a record of some of my experiences and thoughts on becoming a secondary level English teacher in New York State. There is SO MUCH to learn and although I have my NYS initial certification (including masters), I am very much still learning how to teach (we always are, aren't we?). While it's personally important to me to record some of this, it's also important to me to share - both experiences, and resources and tools. I may not have much of the latter here now, but I always hope to share more and that this may eventually be a useful resource for others.

Certification and all, I am still seeking full-time employment as a teacher. I currently work as a substitute teacher and tutor. In addition, I have completed 2 long-term ELA leave placements and taught ELA credit-recovery this past summer.

My overarching goal is to be the best teacher I can possibly be. I'm really interested in innovative, research-based approaches toward teaching, and in playing a role in advancing public education in America. And of course, having fun while I'm at it : )
